What makes the best product pages so good at converting visitors to buyers?
First impressions do count and the best product pages on top money making sites make it easy to give the customer all the information they need to understand the key benefits of the product as quickly as possible. Without having to do too much scrolling or clicking. What works varies slightly from product to product but here are some simple tips.
Consider this example of a custom product page we built for a clothing shop:
What makes this product page good is that all the information that customers need to make a purchase decision is easily accessible and neatly laid out:
- The product title is clear and prominent
- There’s a lot of information needed for customers to make decisions about clothing products so the customer requested that we lay this out in a more compact way – we’ve done this with tabs (which are a built in feature of Ozcart shopping carts) and stylised them to fit with the overall site design
- The product variations (quantity, size, colour) are prominent and close to the add to cart button so product availability can be easily determined
- The add to cart/add to bag is very prominent and inviting
- The sidebar on the left hand side makes it clear what types of payment methods are included and there’s a link to the shipping page to find out how the item will get to them. Other featured products are also included that the visitor might like instead.
