31 May Google+ to replace Google Places – increasing importance of Google+ for stores
Edit: Google+ is no longer available for consumer (personal) accounts.
Google has started to replace Google Places with Google+ with 80 million pages worldwide being changed over – according to reports on search engine news website Search Engine Land.
While existing pages are being converted over to the new Google+ format by Google automatically and rolled out as appropriate, it does not mean that online shops don’t need to do anything.
It increases the importance of ensuring that all online businesses are listed on Google+ as one by one, Google is increasing the weight of importance of this tool, integrating more and more of its services with Google+. It’s inevitable that search engine rankings will eventually be at least partly determined by Google+ content and followers, so the time to act is now.
