The process for getting up a payment gateway service therefore includes:

• Set up the basics of your store first – usually using bank transfers or PayPal initially (so the bank can view and approve your site before approving your account). This process includes writing your policies, loading your products, etc.
• Develop a simple business plan so you know estimates of your incomings and outgoings, and can estimate your daily/monthly transaction quantity and value.
• Apply for your merchant account through a supported merchant.
• Once you have a merchant account, you’ll need to apply for a payment gateway service as well (unless you have chosen an “all-in-one” merchant/gateway service from your bank, e.g., ANZ eGate, Commonwealth CommWeb, NAB Transact, etc.)
